Jeffrey Lant Article Audio Review: Ted Williams, His Golden Voice, and the Cost of Second Chances

Dr. Jeffrey Lant is a deep thinking man and has made a practice of looking beyond the obvious to uncover applicable life lessons, overlooked facts, and at times uncomfortable realities to bring value to every subject he comments upon. There is perhaps no greater example of this than the following article concerning the formerly homeless Ted Williams, a recovering alcoholic, drug addict, turned media darling as a result of his golden voice. I challenge you to read this article carefully and more than once. There are several nuances that might be missed by the casual reader or those who would approach this article as they would one in the USA Today or People Magazine. If you do this you miss the point and the lessons. Consider this phrase from Dr. Lant’s article and it’s deeper meaning. Dr. Lant writes, “In an instant the people of America had shed their grace on this man.” Sound familiar? In the tradition of that great American anthem “God Shed His grace on thee.” So, perhaps we are simply doing what Americans do, offering the grace of a second chance to those who have fallen. But beware, the media tends to love to build them up, so they can tear them down. Dr. Lant cuts particulary deep when it comes to Ted Williams relationship with his mother who said; “… he was there to take, never to give.” Dr. Lant takes such care to note her manner of communication when he writes, “Yes, there was steel in her voice, not just precise articulation and distinct diction.” More on that in a moment. In this article we read among the first considerations of the victims of neglect, Ted Williams ex-wife and five children. Surely they also have a voice. I am perhaps a bit more patient in my expectations of Ted Williams intent and more importantly his actions with regard to sharing his new found wealth with those who deserve it most. His victims. In my view the jury is still out on whether or not Ted will make good and become worthy of our admiration and respect. I am a believer in second chances, and I am prepared to watch Ted Williams for a while to see if he really can become a success at life. He can only do so by honoring his mother, his former spouse, his children, and the grace shown to him by the world. I applaud Dr. Lant for having the courage to address “strong black women.” If you understand the long standing role that women have played in the American black culture, you will see this as testament and acknowledgment of truth. Strong black women have represented true strength for generations. Can you image what any 90 year old black American woman has endured in her lifetime? How many restless nights, broken dreams, disappointments, failed promises. All this is true, but it also provides perhaps the most profound part of this story. Embodied in both Ted Williams mother, his ex-wife and their four daughters, is the power to forgive, which is the truest sign of the strength of such women. I imagine without the strength to forgive over the generations, there would be a long legacy of bitter women rather that the true legacy of the backbone of an entire race of people, and the joy she brings to this world. I was moved to such deep thought by this article that I have decided to record an audio version on both my review and Dr. Lant’s article. In addition, the now world famous You Tube video is also embedded below.

Jeffrey Lant Article Review: Wicked Cool The Hubris and High Jinks of Captain Owen Honors, United States Navy, Sometime Captain of the USS Enterprise.

Words have meaning and actions speak louder than words. When people are placed in positions of leadership every action has the potential to impact dozens, hundreds, thousands of honorable and well intended people. US Navy Captain Owen Honors has illustrated this point so perfectly and according to Dr. Jeffrey Lant – predictably. In an article written on January 3rd and published January 4th, Dr. Lant once again operated ahead of the news cycle and predicted the outcome as Captain Honors has been relieved of his duties and according to military experts, his military career is essentially over. In this following article Dr. Lant moves beyond the obvious and the salacious in order to focus on the deeper meaning between a man, his actions, and the consequences. This article deserves to be read and discussed for it’s far reaching meaning.

Jeffrey Lant Article Review: The Next Great Economic Disruption is Coming. Are You Ready For It?

Monday, January 3, 2011

As we finally begin to emerge from what has been prolonged and far reaching recession, now is the perfect time to prepare for the next downturn that is sure to come. The world economy is cyclical as every bust is followed by a boom, which is followed by another bust in varying degrees. In this article Dr. Jeffrey Lant, CEO and Co-Founder of Worldprofit offers a unique and insightful perspective on this phenomenon and provide practical advice on how to prepare and prosper in all economic environments. Grab a pen and note pad, you will want to take action on this today! by Dr. Jeffrey Lant This title is sure to startle people who follow the ups and downs of the economy with care and perception. "Economic disruption," they might say. "Whaaat? It is my distinct impression that things economic are improving, slowly but surely. Am I wrong?" No, you're right. Things ARE improving, the signs are unmistakable: Item: Online 2010 Christmas sales rose 15% this holiday season from October 31 to December 23. Online retailers took in $36.5 billion during this period, compared to $31.5 billion the same period a year ago. (Note: apparel sales lead the way with $7.3 billion in sales, up 25.7 percent from a year ago.) Item: Weekly unemployment applications of around 425,00 signal modest job growth. Such applications peaked at 651,000 in March, 2009. Item: Companies increased their orders for long- lasting manufactured products by the sharpest increase in eight months, the Department of Commerce reported before Christmas, 2010. Demand rose for computers, appliances, and heavy machinery... with overall expected 2011 growth at 3.5 percent to 4 percent, up from 2.8 percent in 2010. Andante ma non troppo. The rich are out and about buying things meretricious de rigueur for the country club set. As retailers to the rich can unhappily confirm, wealthy shoppers, with their penchant for acquiring gaudy and overpriced items the rest of the world gets by quite happily without, were in short supply during the recession. This Christmas season of 2010 was very different. Mere bagatelles such as luxury automobiles and eye-popping ice were snapped up with alacrity -- and no buyer's remorse. Said Michael J. Silverstein, a senior partner at the Boston Consulting Group in Chicago. "Many households with incomes above $100,000 don't believe the sky is falling anymore. And when they don't believe the sky is falling anymore, they want things." Amen. For instance, some national chains and independent merchants expect double-digit increases in jewelry sales for 2010, a dramatic turn-around from the painful 40 percent drops the hardest hit jewelers experienced since 2008. So, if things are getting better bit by bit, why is this article about the next great economic disruption? Because, quite frankly, the ease and abundance of good times are like a drug obliterating the painful lessons and memories of bad times... which all contributes to creating the next, inevitable bad times. Instead of losing the lessons of the still clear and painful past, we need to make every effort to remember them.... while preparing for the next great economic disruption for which we must be better prepared than the one from which we're emerging from now. The great English romantic poet Lord Byron can assist us. One day his lordship received a message from his demanding inamorata Lady Caroline Lamb to "remember" her. Tired to death of her incessant impositions, he sent her this message of unmistakable clarity: "Remember thee! remember thee! Till Lethe quench life's burning stream. Remorse and shame shall cling to thee, And haunt thee like a feverish dream! Lord Byron indeed would remember and rearrange matters accordingly ... and so must we all. After all, we all know that such disruptions occur at predictable intervals for which we must be ready. Here are the preparatory steps to follow starting TODAY!

Jeffrey Lant Article Review: Why I shall NEVER retire! A Declaration of Independence

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

When do you plan to retire? God willing, this is a question that everyone will one day face and your answer may predict how fulfilling and prosperous your life will be in your winter years. I personally look to historical examples of those who retired well and the common thread in these examples is that they didn't retire at all. There are countless examples of how to go out in style. Winston Churchill rising yet again to power in Great Britain, George Burns entertaining yet another sold out audience, Malcolm Forbes taking flight in his hot air balloon, or more recently Betty White taking one for the team in that celebrated Snickers commercial, these people know how to live to the end. As I approach my middle years of life I am very comfortable with this question as it has been asked and answered, I will be working in my business and on my passions until the Lord calls me home. I cannot imagine life without the thought of truly living until the end. Dr. Jeffrey Lant, CEO of Worldprofit, Inc. Has written a brilliant article which is a true gift to anyone who believe that growing old means that you have to retire to a sedentary life void of new challenges and vistas to explore. Regardless of how old you may be, today is a perfect day to declare as Dr. Lant has done, "I shall NEVER retire." Make this your mantra and intend to live your life as a testament to life long learning and accomplishment. Why I shall NEVER retire! A Declaration of Independence by Dr. Jeffrey Lant I am at the age (64 on 02/16/11) when I am asked one particular question over and over again: "When do you plan to retire?" My resolute answer delivered con brio surprises my questioners: "I shall NEVER retire!" Because they ALWAYS want to know why... I have decided to write this, a latter-day Declaration of Independence, to provide a ready means of response for myself and all the other people worldwide who are thrilled by what they do and the life they have fashioned and have absolutely no desire to change things, no matter what. J'y suis, J'y reste.

Jeffrey Lant Article Review: An open letter to President Obama. We electors of these United States have spoken. Here’s what we said…. and what you must do.

The first election of 2012 has just concluded as the 2010 mid-term election will have dramatic impact on all Statewide and Federal elections. No doubt many post scripts have and will be written today dissecting every possible aspect of the will of the people and the meaning thereof - I think their motivations have been made clear and the political landscape will be changed forever. What lessons will be gleaned by President Obama? More importantly will he act as the moment to govern with control of both House and Senate has passed, control of the Senate remains by the thinnest margin and the leadership in the House has changed - just as the mood of the country. If you are an entrepreneur take note, what happens in Washington over the next two years will have direct impact on your business and quality of life - it is true with no false attempt at the dramatic. Regardless if you voted for President Obama or not if you are an American he is your President and it is in your best interest that he listen closely to the well intended advice that is sure to follow. Here is one such offer of advice. Dr. Jeffrey Lant, CEO of Worldprofit, Inc., has penned one of the first open letters to the President and more than just a restatement of the obvious, Dr. Lant offers a much broader and deeper understanding by putting this all in context. We electors of these United States have spoken. Here's what we said.... and what you must do. by Dr. Jeffrey Lant Dear Mr. President: The people of the United States have spoken... with a message that must have been gall and worm wood for you. Because you see, sir, these elections -- endless, expensive, full of expletives undeleted and charges of every kind and variety... were all about just one person... and that person is YOU. You must feel today as Abraham Lincoln felt when once handed his lunch by the voters: It hurt too much to laugh, he said, but he was too big to cry. (By the way, another Illinois politician named Adlai Stevenson used this memorable line, when he too got sucker punched by the voters and was denied the White House, twice.

This truly is a "how to guide" and if you follow Dr. Lant's advice and do so consistently over time, you will develop a loyal readership eager to engage with you and an endless supply of back-links, traffic, leads, and income. by Dr. Jeffrey Lant It was Bill Gates, the sage with prophetic talents and the deepest of pockets, who said it first: “Content is king.” Per usual billionaire Bill was right. Problem is, he omitted the directions on how to produce the site and article content you need so much. Humbly, I rectify his omission. Here then are the necessary steps for producing web site and article copy that sells.

Jeffrey Lant Article Review: Flower power. You never need a special reason to use it. Now will do just fine.

This is a very touching article by Dr. Jeffrey Lant who is regarded as among the foremost Internet marketers in the world. Although Dr. Lant is best known as the author of thousands of articles on entrepreneurship and online business mastery, he often takes time to share real life experiences that he gently weaves into powerful life lessons that both instruct and inspire. This article really touched me as I have made it a practice for more than two decades to write personal notes and from time to time send flowers as well. Given enough time, I could share stories of how a simple handwritten note has resulted in friendships, clients, political associations, board appointments and the affection of my family members and strangers alike. Dr. Lant emphasizes "flower power" in this article, but the principle is the same and if you take note of the lessons weaved into this article, you will run out and visit your local stationary store and establish an account at your favorite florist as well. I trust that you will enjoy Dr. Lant's latest golden nugget. by Dr. Jeffrey Lant I was at the grocery store the other day; you know, the Shaw’s Market at Porter Square, Cambridge. My helper Aime Joseph was doing his usual efficient job of unloading the groceries onto the conveyor belt. I was holding the flowers so they wouldn’t get crushed. A tired looking lady was at the cash register, a woman of a certain age. She never looked up to catch my eye… but when ringing up the flowers she brightened: “Someone’s lucky today,” she said. And without missing a beat, I said: “You!”, whereupon I took a fervent red rose from the bouquet and handed it to a now very surprised, rather embarrassed but thoroughly delighted, lady. Flower power, a little bit of greenery, some blazing color, had done their work again. And they’ll work as well for you, too.

Jeffrey Lant Article Review: Putting the most powerful word in marketing to work for you!

This is a fantastic article by Dr. Jeffrey Lant, CEO of Worldprofit, Inc. It focuses on a core tenant of successful marketers which is knowing how to turn an "ethical bribe" into traffic, subscriber list opt-ins, and sales. An ethical bribe is simple the exchange of an item of value for a name and email address collected on a squeeze page or opt-in form on your website and blog. This is a powerful strategy that I teach my self and you can learn more about that by visiting my Internet Business Blueprint home business training articles. I would also add that advanced marketers should split test the use of the words "free" against the word "gift" to see which one has the highest perceived value for each specific campaign. Here is Dr. Lants article: Putting the most powerful word in marketing to work for you! Enjoy it!
